Perfect legal spawn larvae micro for dummies

Step 1: Get Autohotkey. It's a third-party utility that lets you create various scripts and macros. But this is not a macro, nor does it play nor modify the game.
Step 2: Create the following script (assuming your keybind for spawn larvae is V): ~LShift & ~V:: { sleep, 30000 Soundbeep, 1000, 500 return } Step 3: Spawn Larvae however you find most convenient. Every time you hear a beep (you'll know what it sounds like 30 seconds after hitting Shift+V once the script is running), spawn more larvae. Note that the previous script assumes you will be spawning larvae with Shift+V, and not just V. I personally recommend binding all queens to a number, base camera (global) to q, and birth queen to e. Then every 30 seconds, you hit your queen group, shift + v, q, click, q, click, q, click ... release shift. Another alternative is to use shift + v with the minimap; this is slower, but it is less susceptible to problems with the queen going walkies. Step 4: ??? Step 5: Profit! |

My bad, thought multiplayer was on faster, not fastest.
edited sleep line to 'sleep, 30000' above for great justice. |

It should be perfectly legal because the script is not playing the game for him. Rather, it plays an alert every time you are able to spawn larvae again, and upon spawning larvae with that hotkey, the countdown timer resets to remind you to spawn larvae again 40 seconds later.
|
Thus, overtime allowing for memory-auto tune, allowing him to do the larvae thing automatically by himself and be awesome. |

Just in case anybody was wary/curious/interested, I still have my account, and last I checked, this thread isn't locked.
Enjoy. :D |

But still... A better way for players to remember spawn larva is to give them a small icon on the corner similar to warp gate that shows hatches not spawining larva. But it's always been debated that that's giving too much.
Also currently we are given a sublte alert that says spawn "larva has expired" on the left side of the screen. Basically having a 3rd party program that "reminds" you to inject larva is inderectly negatively altering how you play out your game because other people who don't use this program rely on what is currenlty available and the presence of mind to do so. Thus you get an unfair advantage compared to other players. But in reality you are actually letting your mind get used to relying on that beep and what happens is when that beep is gone you will start forgetting to spawn larva more often (or other things you can bind to this program). It's like taking an energy drink to help you train for sports. It's perfeclty legal but when the time comes your body will only perform well when said drink has been drunk. |

The legality of this may or may not be in question, but I wouldn't be using it.
Yes, it trains you in the timing needed to inject, but at the end of the day what is actually being trained is you pressing a bunch of buttons at the response of a sound... The SOUND is the key here, and not the TIMING. Lose the sound, lose that response... which means you'd have to drag that 3rd party app all over the world if you want to play SC2 in more than one computer. What you should do instead is to inject BEFORE the sound (thus you need 1 or 2 seconds more in the sound's timing) : if you have not injected by the time the sound activates, you're too late and needs to improve. If done this way, its a godsent training aid... hmm.... maybe I'll get this after all.... |

I think this would be legal, but I can see blizzard not being happy about it.
I agree with WNxZeed too: use it to essentially remind you that you forgot about the inject larvae rather than have it to tell you when to inject larvea.. over time it will become a habbit like smoking with a trigger in your head that kicks in every now and then and says 'check the hatcheries'. |
I think this would be legal, but I can see blizzard not being happy about it. When you smoke you think of hatcheries? hmm.. weird.. but im not here to judge o.0 |
+1 Improve your mutitasking and it's not a problem to keep an eye out for these messages. Something else to remember is that 'space bar' is the hotkey to take your screen to the most recent event. I'd suggest that you work on getting yourself into a macro rotation. Whenever I'm not trying to micro a battle, my mind is going: "inject, drone, scout, army", which is short for: -Check injection status, inject if not already going. -Check resource saturation, build/transfer drones if needed. -Scout the map. For me, this also means harass if able. -Army: Build units based on what you can scout. Upgrade the army if you can/need to. The above just repeats in my head throughout pretty much the whole game. You really don't need any aids to help you with this. |
