My mate and i, who live in the same house in Australia, just tried to play coop with each other for the first time over Bnet (cause there is no lan functionality). Apparently, even tho our computers are conversing over a gigabit switch, and even though we have an ADSL2+ connection with good speends (1.6 mg/s) we are still lagging to the point where it would be impossible to play a proper game.
I want to know two things. The first, why did they remove the network latency thing. My god, that was the BEST thing about SC1 multiplayer. I used to be able to play on a dial up modem against people in ARGENTINA! now i can't even play against the person less than a meter to my right. Second. seriously. Where is the god damned lan functionality? Seriously! I know that Bnet is probably getting a bit weighed down now with the millions of downloads being chugged through it, but that is no excuse for taking functionallity away from people who aren't in the US or in Japan and who don't have gigabyte, optical cables plugged directly into the back of their computers. Is anyone else getting this problem,? |

I was playing right next to a mate this morning and it was fine.
i heard that there would be some sort of pseudo lan functionality where you still need a connection to battlenet but the data would flow over the network. is this actually in the game? I cant tell. |
