Zerg macro help + bonus question
|
As Zerg in bronze (or any league for that matter) how can I further improve my macro abilities?
I attempt to spend all my money, expand and constantly produce drones (though I am worse at the droneing part) Bonus question: When does the ladder reset? Thanks :) |

Learn times to drone and to make units. Make drones when he is not attacking. Make units when you smell an attack or when an attack is coming. You can dictate these descisions by having map control. Sacraficing an overlord for scouting or sending a ling to his ramp, controlling the watchtowers.
Macro is what all new players should learn. If you get really good at it, you can macro and micro at the same time. macro<micro. And i have no idea when it resets haha. |

hi, im a bronze player and i play zerg too. to improve ur macro as zerg i think u should always scout the FRONT..meaning as lnyonz said. ALWAYS have some ling outside of enemy base, ALWAYS have ling running around the MAP(scout for hidden expand) and have a OL scout enemy base on 6min~7min time..if its safe u can drone alot as you like.
during counter atk i believe for bronze like us always have mineral shoot up during battle, so i guess macro during battle will improve ur macro ability |

Before we jump into a real game scenario, its a good idea to individually wokr on each of your mechanics and improve them one by one. doing everything at once is like trying to run before you can walk.
Check your hatchery every now and then. See if your inject is about to pop or if anythign is wrong with your saturation i.e 4 drones on gas. It's a good idea to prioratize macro over micro when you are first starting out. Scout the front to see how many units he has and build a few yourself if his army looks superior to yours (You can quickly create the majority of units needed via larva when he moves out.) Scout the gases too. A terran player wouldnt take a gas if he is going to Fast expand, neither a Protoss foe if he is going to Forge fast Expand, though I'm not 100% sure in Bronze. ^_^ Sack an Ovie around 6-8 Minutes too and react accordingly Take Map control and Harass if possible. Zerg is a fun (but sometimes) frustruating race to play, experiment with different units and see which ones you prefer (Do you like the Nimble agile Zerglings or Tough, Tanky Roaches?) Just like the old saying "Rome wasn't built in a day" you won't go from Bronze straight to Masters league. But the best way to improve quickly is to play more games. Gl, hf! |

Hey man I offer coaching and this is a section of one of my documents I hand out in my intro lesson (which even gm students have benefited from):
Macro Cycle: Always macro in this order: 1.Inject, inject, inject 2.Produce – Spend larvae 3.Overlords – even if you don't get supply blocked on step 2 or spend all your larvae you need to glance at the top right EVERY game to check how many overlords you will need and how soon to build them 4.Creep-spread The reason behind always macroing in a set order is that Zerg have a huge number of actions needed in order to sustain constant macro. If you are doing everything in a random order you are guaranteed to have to constantly waste brain power thinking “what do I need to do now?”. So by memorising this order and carrying out your macro like this EVERY game you begin to do it by instinct without needing to think and therefore always covering all your bases. Not only that but the speed you macro at will increase noticeably. So the goal here is that with every 40s macro cycle (the time it takes for injects to pop) you can go through this order automatically and speedily finish it in 10-15s. This leaves 25-30s for scouting, micro, building tech, and thinking about strategy. You can find me on www.sc2sea.com for other questions or coaching :) |

use hotkeys for your hatcheries.
i put mine on control group 4. all my hatcheries are selected when i press 4. i then press "s" to select larvae and the hotkey of the unit/s i want to spawn. i can do this without having to go to my hatcheries directly. if you can remember to inject, you can engage the enemy and re-max your army simultaneously. when ur army gets wiped, you'll be able to get back up to 200 supply so fast the other player would swear u were hacking! and dont ever forget to drone up early in the game. |
