Mutalisks keeping you in your base...
Try pitting in 400 Zerglings vs 33 Thors. Let's see who wins. |
Terran, because mules let you have an economy and a max army |

Marines with upgrades are enough to deal with mutas. If your marine splitting sucks, get better at it because marines are pretty much the essential terran unit.
Rather than focus on getting enough units to counter mass mutas, focus on getting your marines to 3-3. |

Turrets can take a large chunk of resources if you're building 4 at each base early in the game. Quite an expensive insurance.
Zerg cannot produce that many Mutalisks in the early stages of the game, so marines should suffice, especially if you are keeping your upgrades rolling. I would try to avoid placing turrets until you need to move out, or have the economy to support your production as well as turrets. |
thors win. :x |
If the zerglings attack 1 by 1 |
Do you mean supply wise? because vikings cost a bit more than mutas. (less gas though i guess.) Also, it's hard to produce them en masse, because that would involve getting quite a few starports, in which case, what if he suddenly switches roach/hydra? You probably won't have many tanks and he will just be able to run in and kill you |

if there is a lot of gas in muta a roach hydra switch would be an expensive gamble especially if the terran has been dropping before muta and denying expansions like they should or the zerg was going for a ling bling muta comp and has been upgrading melee instead of range.
(plus once they have spire you need to drop starports for the inevitable broodlord switch anyway) Early game mixes can be brilliant but once upgrades start kicking in the person who is focusing on 1 set of upgrades with have a huge advantage. my 3/3 marine marauder ball would love you to stop making 3/3 ling/bling and start making 0/3 roach/hydra, lol |

If this is an expo I would slam down a bunker behind mineral line and 2 turrets. Bunker protects against mutas, and is stimmable and can fit ghosts for added surprise and can protect againts the zergling harras or infestor harras which can be common.
If it is your base afew turrets should suffice, maybe a couple of marines too. If anything the defences deter the mutalisks, or tie them up for some time so your army can get there, or kill it completely. |
