That's a very weak perspective. The reason you aren't improving is because you lack the knowledge of where to focus. The reason you are not improving is because you fail to understand how this game works. I will fix this for you right now. This game can be simplified into 2 things. Economy and defence/offence. In order to master this game you must first master economy. Without a decent economy you can not establish a decent defence or offence. Everything in this game costs you resources. The more resources you can gain is the more defence/offence/production you can build. Now, how do I balance my economy and my army I hear you ask. Well that brings me to my next point. Information. Information is important because without it you are susceptible to dying a horrible horrible death. Information lets you know exactly how much you can invest in economy without getting your poo shoot invaded. If you don't know what your opponent possesses you don't have a clear idea of what you need to defend against it. If you are ever building a unit and don't know why you're building that unit, you are failing in your duties of gaining information. There are a few methods you can use to gather information. At your level you really only need to use the following: 1. Know the size and composition of the enemies army. Sack units, scan. 2. Know when he moves out. Have a unit waiting at the bottom of his ramp. Now that you're armed with these 2 methods of gaining information, it brings me to my next point. Army positioning. In Starcraft 2 it is extremely important to engage the opponents army in an efficient way. Due to the very basic scouting techniques I have covered above, you are armed with all the information required to engage effectively. This is because: 1. You know what his army consists of, and how big it is. 2. You know when he moves out. position your army, engage and murder him. My final point is very very basic harass and denial. As stated above, this game can be summed up by 2 things. Economy and defence/offence. By establishing a better economy than your opponent you can make more !@#$. Which makes you stronger. It's that simple. You need to use your information gathering skills to ascertain when/if your opponent tries to take another base. Whether it be a late natural or an early third... Once you are armed with this information you need to sum up his army size vs yours and decide whether you can deny/harass the opponents expansion, or whether it's just smarter for you to take your own. Staying ahead in economy is paramount. Denying his economic gain is important. |

Rockstar you are the last person I expected to write a big blurb...

Well there are tips all over every website and board that deals with starcraft 2...
The issue with the OP is that instead of doing a generic "I need help", with which we could link him to some good guides, or write up our own blurbs as Rockstar did; he simply came out guns blazing, cursing down this game and by extension anyone (in this case everyone) who disagrees to this very narrowminded perspective, and finds this game in any way sophisticated, enjoyable, and progressive enough to know his post has no validity. |

I feel really bad for laughing at this. =(
If you are frustrated with the game, yet still want to play, then take a break. Grinding something with frustration doesn't help you improve at all. You have a negative mindset, and to continue playing the game you need to snap out of it. After a rest, that is when you think to yourself: "Do I really want to play this game and try to get better?" If your answer is yes, play some more. Find ways to practice. Figure out where you need to improve. Information is out there. On Team Liquid, in Community Chat Channels, or even in this thread.

Hey there, Sigcom. I’m sorry that you got frustrated enough to make a post like this. I think it’s fair to say that all of us have been, at some stage, been frustrated with a game. As ArtVandelay has mentioned, and this goes for everyone, going in ‘guns blazing’ is not a great approach when all you need is some direction. StarCraft II is hard! It’s a tough adjustment. Speaking for myself, it is one of few games that has really challenged me to get better at it. In fact, part of what I find rewarding about StarCraft II is that I have to work at it, but when I make progress, it’s very satisfying. It’s the part when you’re not making progress that can feel not so great.
Fortunately, that doesn’t have to last forever. It’s not a lost cause, and there really are a lot of resources you can take advantage of to build your skills, if that’s what you want to do. Have you thought of finding yourself a practise partner? I’m sure that one of the posters here can direct you to a good resource to find a partner, or even a coach. Sometimes, linking a replay and asking what went wrong (with an open mind) can go a long way toward helping you figure out where your play might be weak. Also the post by Rockstar has some valid information and there are plenty of guides we can link you to. The point is, there’s a whole community of players who are passionate about the game. I’m sure that a lot of them would be willing to help, sometimes you just have to ask… politely. |

Here are a few easy places to look at for some help:
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Main_Page - Liquipedia, the Wiki of StarCraft II Strategy and eSports. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/index.php?show_part=34 - TeamLiquid.net Strategy Forums, worth looking at a couple of those stickies. http://www.sc2sea.com/ - SC2SEA, an SEA SC2 community site. Chat Channels: PRACBUD - Frequented by many posters on the SEA Battle.net forums, and a variety of other players coming in mainly for practice purposes. sc2sea - Chat Channel for users of SC2SEA. May get you some strategy advice if still active. 2bh - Chat Channel that may still be frequented by high-level players. No clue if still in use, but if it is, you may get good advice.
