Topic Countering mass void rays? :/

OK, I am new at Protoss and starting to get sued to mechanic and ideas. :)
Well, I am fine when it is standard game but today in PvP.
I was winning at early but later mass void rays.... :/
OK, as Terran I used to counter them with Mass Stimmed Marine but as Protoss?
I have no idea. :/ Mass stalkers? Well they have but they have good amount of health so Void Rays get charged. :/

So how to I counter them? :/

Your opponent shouldn't be able to get mass void rays at all if you're playing as aggressively as you should. Stalkers are cost efficient against void rays though, especially with blink because you can blink back the injured ones.

Kill him first.
This. If you're aggressive early game and he's going for mass void rays, he just loses.
VCS
mmmmm.........i know what u fell there mate. I hate mass void rays too but early game aggression can help prevent void rays. Like ive only just come back to SC2 and back in season 3 (thats when i started starcraft) there was a lot of mass void rays but they actually didnt seem to be a threat until like the 20-30 minute mark. and ive seen people with big forces at like the 9 minute mark so if u try to like 2 gate zealot rush him or cannon rush him at the start then u should be fine.

but if u dont get him before that 20 minute mark your mostly likely going to lose to a void ray rush or if u use early game aggression to maybe give yourself more time then yer. :D

I know how this feels, I was struggling against this even just about a month ago, and after posting to this forum, I came to the realization which helped me a lot. When it comes to pvp, its all about pressure pressure pressure. If you can pressure your opponent early , you will definitely win. Since Protoss is somewhat more expensive, you can take advantage of the first gw units that you can build. tech slowly, and pressure frequently, and then your opponent will definitely not reach that mass voidray play.

After realizing that, I came across 2 opponents who I read perfectly, and anticipated the v-ray play, and owned them, and while doing this, keep in mind that if you can't find what you are looking for, there is always a possibility of proxy.

Mass Void Rays you say?Stalkers are most effective against this kind of build, especially since you're able to warp in Stalkers faster than they can build 1 Void Ray.Best way is to constant scout of his/her base.Research 'Blink' is the best option as it will work, you can add on a few Phoenix to help, since Phoenix when focus firing Void Rays, they can kill them instantly,if not,get mass Stalkers with Blink and some weapon upgrades.....armor and shields would be useful, though I don't really research them.

I've tried stalkers alone but they die too fast to be able to dish out sufficient damage. Would suggest adding in Archons as they do splash damage and void rays tends to clump up.

Exactly this, as soon as I see mass void rays split your army into two groups. 1 with all your stalkers and archons and the second with your now redundant immortal/collsui/zealot army.

As soon as he moves out a-move into his base with your ground army and engage with the stalker/archon army.

If his VR ball has reached critical mass and you can't take it head on research psi storm and keep making archons with 2-3 HTs left over for psi storms while harrasing with Zealots. Void Rays are slow so this should buy you time

Dump all your spare minerals into expansions and zealots and use your robo for lots of observers as you won't be using it for anything else.

Then you just wait for a good engagement, good trick is to engage then pull back so he clumps up, then re-engage with your stalker/archon ball. Blink your stalkers back so the archons tank and psi storm his VR ball. It takes a bit of micro and multi-tasking but I guess that's why they call them 'skill rays'. And nothing is sweeter then melting a 25+ VR ball with storm and Archons

The archons are essential though, the stalkers are too fragile to engage the VRs once they are at critical mass without something to tank for them

I can provide a replay if you'd like

Warp in Sentries and Guardian Shield when engaging the Void Ray ball. Guardian Shield can reduce the Void Ray's DPS by as much as one THIRD, and it only costs energy. Armour upgrades also help. It is a lot more preferable to just kill off the masser before he gets a massive ball of VRs, however, because a 200 pop. supply army of 3/3 voids with or without Mothership support doesn't have a counter. It just does not- the DPS from the ball of VRs is so ridiculously high by that point.
