My optus internet package atm is 120gigs, and where it shows your speed like most internet companies say 20mbps but with optus it says "Fast Broadband" sounds abit dodgy to me when my highest speed on this plan has been 180kilobytes on my old grandfathered plan it was over 260!. I do live 2.8km away from the exchange but still, for an adsl+2 plan i expected more..

180kb speed? are you serious?

Are you connecting to your modem via wireless, USB or ethernet? I used to be connecting to my modem by usb and could only get 200-300kbps maximum, however when I swapped to ethernet it upped the speed to 1mbps. Sure this won't fix your latency for sc2, but it might improve your download speed overall :P

Yes that is on Ethernet from the modem straight to the computer, now on my other computer (better and faster) on wireless i get just over 200 i mean yes faster but wow still not what i expected. Im not locked into a contract atm so im really thinking of switching to internode

Wow, bad luck on the terrible speed :( hope your next provider gives you something abit better than that >.>

I highly doubt it, because EB dont allow you to return PC games due to the cd keys. =P

You should try another ISP. My housemate has been playing online for over 24 hours with no lag issues. my ISP rocks!
FKU
Incorrect Naval, if the product is faulty, you can return it.
I returned Settlers 7 for a similar reason.
As long as it is returned in 7 days from purchase, whether it has a key or not means nothing.
Saying try another ISP is absurd, seriously...
It makes much more sense to return for a full refund now, and repurchase in a few months time when its in the bargain bin, and these problems most likely fixed.

EB Refunds and returns
If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with a product you have purchased, we will provide you with a refund or exchange if you return it to any EB Games store in Australia within 7 days after you receive it in its original condition (including all packaging, accessories and manuals).

but the product itself isnt faulty, it's the ISP's and blizzards routing that's the problem. The game works just fine as it was intended.

You're very lucky that you got a refund on a PC game, usually then refuse to take the game back once its been opened.

My PC well and truly exceeds the requirements, and I have full speed ADSL 2, again exceeding the games requirement as per the website and retail box.
Now for reasons beyond my control, the game is unplayable, and that is plain and simply a faulty product.
In Australia we do have good consumer laws to protect us. Also, I was not lucky to get Settlers 7 refunded, that is EB's policy, its just that they don't go out of their way to advertise that, in fear of it getting abused I presume?

Anyway, I will buy it again, that much is certain, but I will not put up with this sort of rubbish on a full priced game, having to wait weeks, most probably months for this to be sorted is madness, and by the time its sorted it will probably be $30 cheaper, so its win/win in the end :)

So if you're with Optus, the game is faulty, but if you're with Internode (that has no issues) the product isnt faulty? =/

Your ISP is faulty because it cannot deliver packet loss free Internet. refund?

When its every ISP in the country other than Internode, and only effects one game out of thousands available, damn straight its faulty.

Bad 5 second stutter/lag last night and every other night.

During the day, or early morning its fine.
LIAO #200

Just wondering, will the problem be fixed all-of-a-sudden? Or will it slowly be repaired?

Since the update, I've been unable to micro at ALL due to this lag. Kiting with stalkers/hydras, stutter-stepping with marines etc. is IMPOSSIBLE. Sometimes the latency (response time) of in-game actions is about 2.5 in-game seconds. I love the game, but this lag makes it impossible to play. I went to my friend's house who has an alternative ISP and the game ran PERFECTLY! Optus is definitely having problems..

Could you perhaps give us an estimation as to when this lag will be fixed? It's ruining Starcraft for me :(
