Topic Diablo 3 region locked?

I know this probably isn't the forum for this question - but it's the only Blizzard forum I can currently post to.

I live in Australia, but on the 14th I'm flying out to the States for my best friend's wedding, and staying there for a few weeks. Awful timing, as I'm more excited about Diablo 3 than I have been about any other game in a long time.

While I'm in America, I'm considering buying Diablo 3 (it'll be cheaper in the USA than it will be in Australia), but I'm concerned that a boxed copy bought there won't work once I bring it back home. Is that the case? Anybody know?

It's not region locked, you log in to the game and choose which server you wanna play on. But characters (and items for auction house) are tied to that server.
