Before you reply to this thread I want you to take a deep breath, especially if your Protoss and take a moment to regain your rationality and wipe the froth from your mouth.
I was playing a game yesterday against a Toss who was on 2 bases for the majority of the game, whilst I was on 3-4. He pushed hard and I thought he played well, using chokes pretty effectively, but I just have to share my feelings about forcefields. I just feel they take so much away from the game. I had so many engagements where I had a superior army and the game was delayed, and even almost tipped in his favor through the use of mass-sentry & forcefields. I am forced to not engage or risk him splitting my army into 2+ chunks and trading crazy-efficiently with a force I feel that is immensely powerful. Here's the replay anyway... If you feel like criticising, make sure its constructive. Thanks http://drop.sc/193597 again... Before you reply to this thread I want you to take a deep breath, especially if your Protoss and take a moment to regain your rationality and wipe the froth from your mouth. edit: I didn't think this post would be that popular in the GD Forum, so to spare myself a fraction of the humiliation I have edited the title to look a little more 'informed'... |

So Zerg can max out at 13 min. Protoss cannot max out at 13 min. You want to nurf the on use spell cast that if used correctly can let the Protoss leave the front of there base? Are you Trolling bro or just wanting to play against very easy AI where they never attack you?
Worst type of QQ because HE WON THE GAME. |

Before you reply to this thread I want you to take a deep breath, especially if your Protoss and take a moment to regain your rationality and wipe the froth from your mouth. Quick Tip: If you have to put a message like this in your Thread-Opening Post twice in an attempt to deter raging, it's probably worth changing your topic and/or post.

Low-tier protoss units are considerably less cost-effective than their corresponding zerg units. 4 lings defeat a zealot, roaches are 75/25 stalkers etc. Forcefields allow a good protoss to balance these weaknesses by being able to pick their engagements well. Lategame, forcefields become less relevant because there are massive units in play and the main units are air for the zerg.

Lol, did you even watch the game? That's a pretty sweeping statement mate. Twoezy - yes, but Roaches (the thing Zerg max out on at 12* minutes) in terms of the supply they cost are weaker than Protoss units. Plenty of Protoss manage quite effectively to hold off this play by taking a third and getting immortals (put simply), not to mention through the use of other strategies (mass-gateway play & timing attacks): and if you let a Zerg sit back and drone up like noone is there in the first place, then you should be expecting it. To all the others with their pitchforks, the quotes in bold at the beginning and end of the post are a joke. Maybe you all had a humor bypass, or maybe it's just these forums turn people that way after a while. I made a friendly dig at Protoss players and the bulk of my post gets ridiculed as 'trolling' and 'idiotic'. Please don't insult my opinion as idiotic and stupid. I am a person also. I'm not claiming Protoss are overpowered (to those making the assumption that is what I meant). I am stating my opinion that I feel forcefields take away from the game: forgive me if I did not elaborate upon this further, but I feel Protoss players rely on them too heavily and they can become abusive on certain maps. With enough sentries they can deny an engagement and opportunity for so long it could cost the other person the game. I think if forcefields had hitpoints, and Protoss gateway units maybe received a small buff in return it would be much more balanced and lead to the other player feeling much less helpless in these situations. Thanks MeuX, jellybely, Rockstar for non-personal, rational replies. |

ok, not like posting on the forums ever makes a difference for anybody..
The only thing the forums could potentially provide for you is an altering of perspectives, atm it's the common occurrence of people talking about problems, which in all honestly, were intended and just a scape goat for their own errors. I shall continue to ride the decaying horse of imbalance into the HotS (and beyond) to warn everyday users that nothing is ever what it seems. -Haza out |

Erk.
Mate, Forcefields are not OP the slightest. 1 - They are finite - Much like a strategy can be to delay/deny creep tumors, one you may use on protoss is to force them to use force-fields (even if it means sacrificing some units). 2 - They require a pre-set battle environment that will favour the use of forcefields or else their usefulness is diminished (either more supply is in sentries, or there are less uses of forcefields). 3 - The strategic use of forcefields can be countered by the strategic use of engagements. ~ Zerg does not have a battle-micro intensive army. This is simply fact. More important to their battles/engagements is being strategic in the sense of an army general - allocating army compositions to different fronts and flanks. |
This really made my day. Now everytime someone rages in a thread I imagine them to be frothing at the mouth.
In fact, there are Protoss players who do not like having to rely on Forcefields just in order to survive. I don't mind nerfing Forcefields in exchange of buffing Gateway units but that will lead to a lot of other problems. So in the end it might be too difficult to execute this. |
