Topic PvZ muta ling woes (replay)

Hello gentle men of bnet forums, I recently started playing sc2 a few weeks ago and I'm still in bronze (though I only ever seem to play high silver/mid gold). As the title says I have been running into a lot of trouble playing against zergs that run muta ling, here is a replay with some play I'm not particularly proud of, but it sums up most of the problems I run into facing muta ling. This game is a bit of an extreme case since I failed to find his hidden tech (and an expo) and I scouted a fake hydra den, but the same concepts still apply.

Please give me some advice, be as critical as you want.

ill watch the replay later bit bussy, but quick thing to note:

- ffe always, 14 forge, 18 nexus, 18 cannon, 18 pylon, amke sure to block potnetial 3rd and natural expandsion with pylons, after the gate, forge, pylo, cannon, make double gas, then do watever, sentry stalker owns muats of u use gardian shield and cannons in mineral liens are good to stall mutas so u can get your army in position, blink si key if u scout mutas. and 3 weapons eats them up, as for lings use fore fields to stop them from surrounding ans a big mass of stalker sentry zealot and imortal ro collosus shoudl do the trick, if he goes for like 50 muats make archons or ht for storm. ill psot u a replay to show u how to open so u will ahve the economy to get blink, 4 to 5 cannons, and many stalekrs as wella s support untis for ligns, and/or banes. u only need to watch the first 6 mins, the rest dosent really madder unless your fond of sentry immortal pushes.

ok first thing, u way over saturated, 24 which is 3 bars is the max, however usually 16-20 is wat u want because, well its hard to explain it gets indef, but making 24 probes or mroe delayes tech, army which in turn lowers aggression and map control, which in turn decreases your chance of securing a 3rd or 4th, also charge is terrible vs zerg, it can help vs roach hydra, but vs lings u want your zealots to stay in your army to hold of th eligns if thye surroudn, nto to charge in and get surrounded and picked of, blink is much better, also zealots arent good vs zerg, they are your main tier 1 unit vs terran, but sv zerg u want stalkers, as you bread buttuer unit, motherships help, also, making lots of gateways and saving moeny for warp ins aswell as splitting amry and making a few tacticly palced cannons will alow u to cover base, wile your colosus senty and stuff can cover front door if they go for a front door push, which i doubt becuase all they wont is to stall u long enough to get mass bases hatches and broods so they ahve the game. if u want u can add me so we can practice in game, 2v2, 1v1 and such to show u stuff. last thing, colosus arent that good afetr the 15 min amrka s brood comes out around 16 min with your average zerg, if u use colosus, u ened to do a 3 base timign at 15 mjins with a nearly maxed army, 4 colosus is good, and catch him by surprise, if he is myat heavy and not much else but ligns palce a few archons aroudn your base and 12 plus agtes ready to warp in blink stalkers when needed. while the rest of your army eats him, becuase 3-4 archons with 12 sentrys guardian shielding should hold of muats unless hes really good at magic boxing in which case send your blink stalekr from the base to help.

Beating ling muta is pretty easy.

The most important thing to do is get + attack upgrades. With the +1 attack upgrade your zealots will 2shot lings instead of three... Keep chronoing out those upgrades and you'll smash the lings with zealots.

Get blink, put a few cannons up, move out and rape his base with a zealot heavy force with enough blinkstalkers to deal with the mutas. just A-click and micro your stalkers. While you're doing this tech to archons through DT's.

Better to do it through HTs, as you need storms anyway to defend against mutas.

What do you do if the zerg player gets carapace and uses banelings on your zealots?

This guy just tricked you I think, he planted a roach warren and hid his spire at his crazy 3rd.

Things you can improve on are
Scouting and it's going to be hard to find that 3rd but if you did it was GG because 2 spires tells you to stop making immortals and get blink and storm and start putting cannons over the mineral lines.

The other side to scouting in this game is looking at his army, he had lots and lots of lings and no roach so something was up. Also he did not try and bust you off 2 base so that kinda tells you he must have a 3rd somewhere. Also lots of lings and no roaches mean start to think about mutas, if I see that I scout like mad to find out.

In terms of the fight, you needed a different army composition which is hard to change at that point in the game. You need colossus still for lings, blink and storm for the muta as well as archons and cannons over your mineral line. It's allot but you need to split you're army up quit allot as well. I leave 2 a HT at every mineral patch and chase him out with storm and blink.

Ps I hate mass muta on that map, I and allot of protoss veto it for that reason >.<

Didn't watch replay but here are some key pointers to look at . You NEED psi storm and blink stalkers against mutaling . You NEED to be active with your observers and units do that you can get your third base up ! Then get a mother ship and done good mixture of ground units . Make sure you have at least 3 archons . Vortex key units n send archons inside. Another thing to watch out , some players will tech switch to roach hydra so just be careful . Good luck !

Forcefields. Try and create two walls of them to trap the banes at a safe distance and kill them with stalkers.
