The physical side effects of playing Zerg
|
Here goes, I noticed in my games may it be an easy win to a hard fought battle I always end up exhausted with all the task what zerg must do to SURVIVE, not yet a win. So much more if I push myself to my limit reaching around 80 -100 APM. Its like having a mini-exercise. Anyone else experienced this too?

I don't have complains about that. Its actually very satisfying that your reminded by your exhaustion that you did your best. Not as satisfying as eating terrans and their MM rushes.

Regardless of what ever AMP I have, I find my heart racing after every match I play as Zerg. but not even a sweat(win or lose) with T or P. Maybe its the excitement that one idle moment after another as Zerg has D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R written all over it.

@Ravenmourne: Lol! Thats sooo true. T and P seems like they are just sitting pretty.
Has anyone seen the Idra look-a-like video about his comment about the nerf. LOL. |
|
When I play Terran I feel so relaxed compared to Zerg. I know that no matter what build I go with Terran, its up to my opponent to counter it - I can do anything ridiculous from marine raven HSM timing push, 1 RAX reaper FE, to seige tank marine timing push.

@MichaelBryan T and P are just sitting on their one base taking their sweet time and watch us throw minerals and gas on their wall. Next thing we know its thors and carriers. We on the other hand don't have the luxury of turtling and hope to pump some serious high tech before the enemy breaks in. It's like burrowing your infestor in front of a photon cannon. Thus the mini exercise you spoke of.
|
|
@ACTIVILLAIN: That is also true. I played against AI and it was so easy to steam roll them/
@Ravenmourne: I understand what you feel. We may cant wall in ,but we can certainly fast expand faster than those T and P. Be sneaky in scouting, sack overlords or drop changelings for efficient scouting. Zerg is no where weak in the scouting area. |

One question:
You know the phrase: "if you love what you're doing, you don't have to work a day", if you really love to play as Zerg too much sometimes you just naturally ignore the hard work behind it... So do you think it is fair that you have to overwork yourself in a video game, playing a race you really love that has a higher risk of frustration than the other 2 races, which also might as well isolates casual players from enjoying it cuz they don't have time or effort to invest in APM or super micro/macro, result in most likely they'll lose anyway? Also note that Zerg is forced to have the tendency to play aggressive and dirty as the infamous rusher as well, and I personally don't like that reputation. If I am to answer my own question, I'd say Zerg has a fatal flaw somewhere in its design, a good balanced race should be able to win without too much micro-intensity (hence Protoss, Terran) but would be even more powerful under the hand of someone who can pull off even better micro/macroing. |
|
No flaw there, i love being called a dirty rusher, i love hearing the cyberscreams from players when i walk into his base and grab him by his balls when he gets careless. I love the headache i get from 20 good games in a row. And i definitely love the satisfaction when you beat someone so bad with a race that everyone feels is underpowered.
Moral of the story? If you don't love pain like us. Don't play Zerg. |

@Flayzerannyx You couldn't have said it better.

You have a point, guess Zerg just isn't for me, tho I still think it is the most interesting race to play with.
Back to Protoss on my part :) Edit: To Hell! I'm back playing Zerg already!!!! Who care if I have low CPM as long as I'm playing the race I love I don't care :P Its Blizzard's job to get Zerg fixing up. |

You can hit an average of 80-100 and still be in Silver? Wow...
|
|
@Demonwithin: That is why I dont believe apm defines skill. But apm is part of a good player. I just started playing starcraft 2 since release and I dont play more than 3 hours a day because my Real Life demands much of my time.

You can hit an average of 80-100 and still be in Silver? Wow... I hit 70-80 on average and peak at 100ish and be still in bronze. Just goes to show that if you dillydally as zerg, 30-40 apm Terrans will screw you over. |
|
apm plays only a small part imo. It is crucial, but not everything.
As a zerg player, i do agree that zerg players do not have the luxury to not do anything for a minute. I am not sure about other races though since i haven't played them before. But i like the fact on how zerg players have to always be doing something and how a slight disadvantage will occur should you stop and think for a minute or forget to do something, say spread the creep or expand. It also feels good to see your units coming out all at once from all directions. |

the moment your fingers relax is the moment you LOSE!
for the swarm! |
