Units

Brood Lord

These massive manta-like flying creatures serve as aerial siege units for the Swarm. Only seen in the largest of conflicts, the Brood Lord has the ability to spit out biological symbiotes that function as living ammunition. These regurgitated creatures focus on their target, ravaging it until they destroy it or die in the attempt. This attack makes Brood Lords extremely dangerous to opposing installations. However, despite their impressive offensive abilities, Brood Lords are not very durable, and they make easy targets for most aerial-strike combatants.

General Strategy

  • Anti-ground flying unit.
  • Evolves from Corruptor.
  • Flings Broodlings, which do high levels of damage to ground-based units and can surround them.
  • Broodlings cannot attack air units, and have a limited lifespan.
  • Effective siege unit due to its long-ranged attack and ability to fly.

Countermeasures

VS Terran
  • Build Vikings to efficiently take down Brood Lords without any retaliation.
  • Battlecruisers are also effective against Brood Lords and can destroy them in one hit with their Yamato Cannon upgrade.
  • The biggest strength of Brood Lords is their ability to create massive numbers of Broodlings. Take Brood Lords out quickly with Vikings to prevent this.
VS Zerg
  • Anti-air flying units like Corruptors can engage Brood Lords and pursue them throughout an area effortlessly without any fear of being targeted in return.
  • Anti-air ground units such as Hydralisks, though obviously less ideal than flying units, can provide a defense against Brood Lords when massed.
VS Protoss
  • Brood Lords can be handily dispatched by air units that they can’t reach, such as Carriers, Phoenixes, and especially Void Rays – the Rays’ ’Prismatic Beam’ will quickly wear away at Brood Lords’ hit points.

I laugh at Terran players who mass marines and siege tanks and see their tanks shelling their own marines lol :D A broodling for a marine!

Slow, low HP, expensive, takes the longest time to tech to, easily countered by Terran's Vikings. Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you, the Poop Lord !

dude did anyone notice all of the zerg units evolve hydralisk can now attack melee instead of just range everseers mutalisk has many eyes now and that fly headed creature in sc1 evolve into a corruptor and the drones instead of getting 6mins or maybe something higher they can now get 5 minerals which is bad and the guardian evolve to broodlors which is really a huge flying baby sitter the tiny worm from sc1 turned into a infestor which is now fat and big, lings can turn to banelings and nydus instead of just looking like some kind of door before now really looks like a worm which is really bad ass in late game if u dont notice

@CrossBlack: Of course they evolved. Four years of forced genetic mutation and experimentation kinda helps if you want to create the perfect being.

man, blizzard should seriously consider making brood lord anti air too,as it doesnt make sense(if the broodlings could float beside the brood lord, why cant it kill then enemy by floating and attacking it?! brood lords are zerg's best air unit after all!)

@Kenjinsakura: thats because he morphs from the corruptor ;). Much more badass.

@ArtVandelay: I think it's better, when you train Muta in SC1, u only have either 1 choice: air or ground strike after evolving Muta, now you can train Muta and Corruptor @ same time, no unit loss.
