Colossus

The towering Colossus is a Protoss robot design dating back to the bloody conflicts of the Kalath Intercession. It strides across the battlefield on four tall, slender legs that allow it to cross steep elevations with ease. The Colossus’ heavily armored hull carries two powerful Thermal Lances, with one on each side of its body. The robot’s beam attack cuts a broad swath across its targets, making the Colossus an ideal anti-infantry weapon. Unlike most other Protoss robots, the Colossus was created purely for destruction. Manufacturing Colossi has been outlawed for centuries, but the increasingly desperate war against the Zerg has forced the Protoss to revive the line.

General Strategy

  • Massive armored unit that can attack ground targets.
  • Able to attack from very long range.
  • Devastating to groups of infantry.
  • Cliff Walk allows it to traverse elevations in terrain, like Reapers.
  • It is so massive that it can be engaged by anti-air structures and units.

Upgrades

  • Extended Thermal Lances: Passive increase to the Colossus’s attack range.

Countermeasures

VS Terran
  • Launch Vikings; their long air-to-air range will make it easy to bring the Colossi down.
  • Engage with Banshees.
  • Build Thors and use their 250mm Strike Cannon ability.
VS Zerg
  • Spawn Corruptors or Mutalisks to engage the Colossi safely.
  • Use Infestors' Neural Parasite to control Colossi – after distracting them.
  • Spawn Ultralisks. Their high damage, armor, and health will allow them to survive the Colossi onslaught. Be sure to research Chitinous Plating.
VS Protoss
  • Use Void Rays to engage Colossi safely.
  • Focus-fire them with Immortals.
  • Build Carriers or Phoenix fighters.

Love these colossus!! I used around 7 of these big boys and other units in the utter darkness mission and I got up to 2300 kills on normal difficulity.... pretty useful killers.

they should put an upgrade (even if it costs a LOT [1200min 900gas, maybe?]) an anti-air upgrade which deals maybe, 7 at best. OR, you have to research it on the colossus mainly, but it should cost lesser, (like carriers, they research interceptors to be able to attack) so i was thinking the same, you can buy that upgrade only on the colossus, so, each colossus you have, have to upgrade separately. >.< (just so that they have anti-air support that doesnt deal that great damage. just a support)

i cant agree with the design, its look not cool for protoss, but the rest is nice thought(better if hv no legs and just floating like sentry(but can past cliff), that my colosi version(give more respect for this TITAN design PLSSS!!!)

This unit is one of the best protoss support units, towers over your zealots and stalkers while doing AOE dmg. If it could target air it would possibly be one of the ultimate units.

these guys are ok, but by god protect them, just cos its name is "Colossus" doesn't mean its strong to fight an army, esp when anti air could hit it, also, they go down easy.

Superb ground support units, the lance extension upgrade is a must by the way. Get to these walking monstrosities only if the opponent uses heavy ground assaults, otherwise don't, stop at Immortals.
