Raven

The Raven is an all-around workhorse that combines the functions of a surveillance drone and a combat engineer. A common sight among the fringe-world colonies, these robust air-mobile vehicles are built to operate independently in harsh climates. Ravens excel in protection and reconnaissance due to their defensive Auto-Turrets and their advanced sensors, which can detect cloaked or burrowed enemies. The Terran Dominion initially designed the Raven to give low-level protection to its most isolated outposts, but recently the Raven has been used in escalating levels of conflict to replace the older and costlier Science Vessel.

Flight Manual

  • Support craft with detection capabilities. It can also deploy Auto-Turrets and Point Defense Drones.
  • Use it to reveal cloaked/burrowed units or hallucinations and to support your troops.
  • Vulnerable to enemy fire, so keep it protected and hot-keyed to a different control group.
  • Do a diversionary assault on the front of the enemy base while you use a few Ravens to deploy Auto-Turrets behind the enemy’s mineral line.
  • Launch Point Defense Drones to protect your units from enemy missiles.

Tech Lab Upgrades

  • Corvid Reactor: Increases the starting energy of Ravens by 25.
  • Durable Materials: Extends the timed duration of Raven Auto Turrets and Point Defense Drones.

Countermeasures

VS Terran
  • Place Missile Turrets behind your mineral line and send in Marines or a couple Thors.
  • Use Ghosts to drain the Ravens’ energy by means of EMP rounds.
VS Zerg
  • Use the Queen in tandem with a few well placed Spore Crawlers.
  • Don’t clump up your units and always attack from two sides at once.
  • Mutalisks are the best to take them down due to their superior speed.
  • If you have Hydralisks, be sure to have the Grooved Spines upgrade and always attack from two sides at once or spread out.
VS Protoss
  • Cover your probes with Photon Cannons.
  • Focus fire the Ravens using Stalkers.
  • Use the High Templar Feedback ability to drain their energy and deal damage. If the Raven’s energy reserves are full, they will die in one cast of this ability.
  • The Phoenix is fast and does extra damage against Ravens.

I find it funny,this unit is considered light but heavily armoured vikings and slow medivacs can fly faster...they should give it a bit more speed.

I think blizzard needs to make this unit faster.if it can keep up with your fleet, it would be a more effective unit both in harrasing and support. We can finally leave the memories of the science vessel in peace.

ever used a raven to run a way it works 2 auto turrets your enemy will attack auto turrets well thay could run past but no one like to do that .It is a great hit and run unit also can creat a landing zone 1 ravens ( well i have only used one to do this )
auto turrets 4 it will take the grunt if you do it right. when thay die your amy is in the only thing that can stop this is lightng fast army to meat you or air to air any air or ground base defenses too.

they should make Ravens faster, as its way too slow,cant even catch up with vikings and ravens should have more mana as their abilities cost alt of mana!

Their PDD is very cool, works great against stalkers and mutas. I would a list of what it does and doesnt work against. I know it doesnt work against immortals, colossus (and obviously any melee units), void ray, siege tanks.

Great??!! Another micromanagement nightmare. I still prefer the science vessel due to the added vehicle repair capability. Leviathans & Purifiers don't stand a ghost of a chance with these support units backing up my fleet, even if Blizzard took away the EMP blast.
